Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2026
1. Where This Policy Applies
This Privacy Policy applies to the Habit Tracker mobile application ("HabitTracker," "the App"), including its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and its Apple Watch app, available on the Apple App Store. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. HabitTracker is built local-first: your habits and everything you log are stored on your own devices, not on our servers, and you are never asked to create an account.
2. Our Privacy Commitment
We believe your habits, moods, and reflections are personal, and that they belong exclusively to you. All of your habit data — including habits, check-ins and logs, streaks, routines, goals, challenges, mood and energy entries, journal entries, notes, proof photos, and settings — is stored locally on your device only. Your habit data is not transmitted to any external server; it leaves your device only if you choose to export or share it. The anonymous usage events described in Section 10 only record that something happened in the App, never what you wrote or named.
3. Information We Collect
HabitTracker does not require account creation and does not collect the content of your habits.
We do NOT collect:
- The names, notes, or contents of your habits, check-ins, logs, routines, goals, or challenges
- Your mood, energy, or journal entries
- Your proof photos
- Your Apple Health data
- Your location — location is used only on-device to trigger a place-based reminder you set, and is never stored by us or sent anywhere
- Your Face ID or Touch ID data — biometric matching is performed entirely by iOS, and the App only learns whether unlocking succeeded
- Your name, email address, or contact information (unless you voluntarily email us for support)
- Any advertising identifier (IDFA) or cross-app tracking data
All habit data processing and storage occurs entirely and exclusively on your devices. Separately, the App uses Google Firebase for basic app analytics, crash reporting, and app configuration, described in full in Section 10 below — this never includes the content of your habits.
4. How the App Works
HabitTracker operates in a local, device-first manner:
- Local Data Storage Only: all your habit data is stored in the App's private storage on your iPhone. No habit content is sent to external servers.
- Widgets, Siri, Shortcuts, and Control Center: the widgets exchange data with the main App only through a private, on-device shared container (an "App Group"). Logging a habit with Siri, Shortcuts, a notification action, or the Control Center button runs on your iPhone. This data never leaves your device.
- Apple Watch: if you use the Apple Watch app, today's habits are transferred directly between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. The transfer does not pass through any server operated by us.
- Offline Operation: you do not need an internet connection to create, track, or complete habits. Core functionality operates offline.
- No Cloud Sync: there is no account and no cloud synchronization run by us. If you have turned on iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, iOS may include the App's data in that device backup. This is controlled by your iOS settings and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- On-Device AI (Apple Intelligence): on supported devices with Apple Intelligence enabled, the Habit Coach and habit suggestions use Apple's on-device Foundation Models. All of this processing happens on your iPhone; your habits and questions are not sent to Apple, to us, or to any other party. On other devices, the App uses built-in, rule-based tips instead.
- User Settings: app preferences and settings are stored locally on your device only.
5. Device Permissions
HabitTracker requests the following permissions, each only when you use the related feature. You can change any of them at any time in iOS Settings.
- Notifications: to show the reminders you schedule for your habits. These are local notifications generated on your device; no push-notification service or remote server is involved.
- Location ("While Using"): used only to trigger a habit reminder when you arrive at a place you chose. Not used for any other purpose, not stored by us, and never sent anywhere.
- Apple Health (read only): see Section 6.
- Face ID / Touch ID: used only for the optional App Lock, to keep your habits and journal private.
- Photos: when you attach a proof photo to a check-in, you choose it in Apple's system photo picker. The App receives only the photo you picked, not access to your photo library, and stores a copy in its private storage. The copy is deleted when you delete that check-in or habit.
6. Apple Health Data
If you turn on Apple Health sync, the App reads the following data from Apple Health, on your device, so it can complete matching habits automatically: steps, exercise minutes, walking and running distance, sleep, mindful minutes, and workouts. In addition:
- The App never writes to Apple Health.
- Health data is never sent off your device, never disclosed to third parties, and never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining.
- The App keeps only the resulting habit check-ins (for example, "Walk 10,000 steps — completed"), stored locally with your other habit data.
- You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices, or turn sync off in the App.
7. Data Export and Backup (Optional)
You may manually export your data from the App's Settings: your logs or habits as CSV files, or a complete backup as a JSON file, which you can restore into the App at any time. Exports are handed to the iOS share sheet and are stored or sent only where you choose. They are never sent to us. We are not responsible for managing or securing exported files.
8. Diagnostic Log
To help fix problems, the App keeps a diagnostic log of its own actions on your device, such as reminders being scheduled or the Apple Watch syncing. The log may include habit names and settings. It is never sent automatically. It leaves your device only if you tap "Share Diagnostic Log" in Settings and choose where to send it, and you can clear it at any time.
9. Apple App Store Analytics
When you download HabitTracker through the Apple App Store, Apple may collect information as part of their platform operations, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours. If you have opted into sharing App Analytics with developers through iOS Settings, Apple may share aggregated and anonymized crash data and usage statistics with us. This sharing is OFF by default and can be changed at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
10. Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and App Configuration)
HabitTracker uses Google Firebase for three limited purposes:
- Firebase Analytics: records anonymous, non-personal usage events — such as which screen you opened, which button you tapped, or that a habit was created, checked in, skipped, or deleted, a streak milestone was reached, or a challenge was started, completed, or missed — with non-identifying details only (for example the habit type, a built-in template or challenge identifier, or a count), together with basic technical information (device model, OS version, app version, an anonymous Firebase-generated install identifier, and approximate, coarse location derived from your IP address, such as country or region). It never includes the names, notes, or content of your habits, moods, or journal.
- Firebase Crashlytics: if the App crashes, a crash report (what part of the code failed, and the technical information above) is sent so we can fix the problem. Crash reports do not include your habit content.
- Cloud Firestore (app configuration): on launch, the App reads a small, non-personal configuration document that controls whether the in-app "Rate HabitTracker" prompt is currently active. This is a read-only fetch; nothing about you or your habits is uploaded to make it.
This use of Firebase:
- Does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and is not used for advertising
- Does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, so the App does not show an App Tracking Transparency prompt
- Does not transmit your habits, check-ins, notes, mood or journal entries, proof photos, Apple Health data, or any other content you create
- Is governed, for the portion Google itself processes, by Google's Privacy Policy at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy/
11. Third-Party Services
HabitTracker minimizes third-party integrations:
- No advertising networks or ad-tracking SDKs, and no advertisements in the App
- No data brokers, and no data sold to anyone
- Google Firebase, exactly as described in Section 10
- Apple's first-party frameworks, all running on your devices: HealthKit for Apple Health, Core Location for place reminders, Local Authentication for Face ID / Touch ID, PhotosUI for the photo picker, WatchConnectivity for Apple Watch, WidgetKit and App Intents for widgets, Siri, and Shortcuts, and Foundation Models for on-device Apple Intelligence
12. What Happens If You Contact Us
If you contact us at feedback.sfsk@gmail.com for support or feedback, any information you provide, including a diagnostic log you choose to attach, is:
- Used only to address your specific request
- Not stored in any database
- Not shared with third parties
- Deleted within 30 days after your issue is resolved
Please avoid including sensitive personal information in support emails unless it is necessary to describe your issue.
13. Data Retention and Deletion
Data Retention: your data is retained for the lifetime of the App's installation on your device. When you uninstall the App, iOS deletes all of its locally stored data, including proof photos. Data on your Apple Watch is removed when you uninstall the Watch app.
User-Initiated Deletion: you can delete any habit, check-in, routine, goal, or journal entry at any time directly within the App. Deleting a habit also deletes its history and proof photos. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone unless you have made a backup.
Data Requests: because we store no habit data on external servers, there is no personal habit content for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. All your habit data is exclusively under your control on your devices. Requests relating to the limited analytics and crash data described in Section 10 can be sent to the email address in Section 12; because that data is anonymous and not linked to your identity, we may not be able to locate a specific record to delete.
14. Device Security
Since your data is stored only on your devices, its security depends on your device's security:
- Use a strong device passcode and keep iOS updated with security patches
- Turn on the App Lock in Settings to require Face ID or Touch ID before the App opens
- Do not share your device with untrusted parties
- Regularly export a backup if you wish to maintain a separate copy of your data
15. Your Data Rights and Control
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: you can view all your data within the App at any time
- Modification: you can edit any habit, check-in, entry, or setting directly in the App
- Deletion: you can delete any item immediately, or uninstall the App to remove all data from your device
- Export: you can export your data as CSV or as a complete JSON backup at any time
16. App Store Privacy Label
The privacy practices disclosed in the App Store Privacy Label for HabitTracker are accurate and reflect the practices described in this policy, including the limited, non-personal analytics and crash data described in Section 10. We encourage you to review the App Store Privacy Label for a quick summary.
17. Children's Privacy
HabitTracker is a general-purpose habit tracker suitable for all ages and contains no advertisements. Because we do not collect the content of your habits or any personal identifying information from anyone, all users, including children, have the same strong privacy protections. Parents retain control through iOS parental controls and device security settings.
18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes that reduce your privacy protections, we will notify you through the App before the changes take effect. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
